Lalibela

Lalibela “the Jerusalem Blacks “ and “ the Petra of Africa “ is a small town situated to 2500m of altitude ,where 100,000 people live basically of subsistence from agriculture and Tourism . Danakil Depression

Dallol is another hydrothermal activity in the Northern part of the Depression at the bottom of the African rift, a salt dome - full of geysers, hot springs, acid lakes and fluorescent green pools encrusted with sulfur - emerges from an overheated plain. The hydrothermal site of Dallol results from the interaction between the salty Red Sea waters, the runoff and the heat from a magmatic chamber located well below 2,000 meters of salt.

Bale Mountains

The Bale Mountain National Park is home to more locally endemic species of mammals than any other area of equivalent size on the planet. The mountains preserve habitat and sustain life of many endemic and endangered species .It is home for the five distinctive mammals namely Ethiopian Wolf, Mountain Nyala, Bale Monkeys, Giant Mole Rat and Meneliks Bushbuck.

Rock Hewn Churches of Tigray

In the North West of Mekele and around, there are about 120 rock-hewn churches amid the most scenic of sedimentary mountains .Many of these amazing churches have beautiful paintings of the apostles ,the saints and others . The majority of these churches have been hewn out of the sandstone but not cut free from the rock so that, when you look up from the plain, in most cases they are not visible but you can walk easily from one to the other especially on the Geralta Mountains. People and the priests maintain the idea of carved during the 6th century but much more likely were carved, excavated and decorated by monks from the eastern Tigray during the 13th and 14th centuries.

Semien Mountain National Park

Take the road over the high plateau to visit the spectacular Landscape and sheer cliffs that will take your breath away. The Semien Mountain National Park is situated at 130Km North of Gondar. Covering an area of more than 400 Square Km situated at an altitude of 1900 meters at its lowest point and 4,533 meter a.s.l.at it’s highest, was established in 1969. It was one of the sites to be recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO .The Park is globally important for its biodiversity conservation it is home threatened species including the Iconic Walia Ibex, The Gelada Baboon, and the Ethiopian Wolf.
